Taylor Kohrs teamed with Norris Design and Evergreen Skate Parks to revitalize Benedict Park for the City of Brighton, one of Brighton’s oldest and most popular parks utilized for versatile recreation such as picnicking, disc golf, skating, and sports programming.
A highlight of the renovation includes a 4,000 SF expansion of the existing concrete skatepark, which more than doubled the size of the skate park to 6,500 SF. The additions of ramps, rails, banks, bowls, quarter pipes, ledges and funboxes enhance and diversify the skating experience for patrons. Additional work includes the replacement and upgrade of two playgrounds with sensory play plus and ninja course obstacle play equipment, replacement of the aging irrigation system that is now optimized for water efficiency and decreased maintenance, resodding and landscaping, three new ADA-accessible Poligon shade structures, a trail loop connection to Memorial and Fulton Ditch Loop, new and upgraded safety lighting, new identification signage, and new park amenities such as benches and trashcans.
Being located next to Southeast Elementary School and residential developments, safety was prioritized on and around the job site for park patrons and surrounding neighbors.
