Taylor Kohrs collaborated with St. Francis Center and SHOPWORKS Architecture on the adaptive-reuse rehabilitation of the historical Warren Church built in 1909 and the two-story chapel built in 1952. The church and chapel were converted into 49 dwelling units of affordable housing for those individuals transitioning from homelessness. Warren Residences includes large shared spaces that provide a sense of community and also maintain the architectural beauty and historic significance of the church. The residents have access to shared bathrooms, laundry facilities, living and kitchen areas that allow residents to build community. Work entailed restoration of the stain glass windows, reuse of materials from the chapel, and the addition of a mezzanine level in the converted sanctuary. Additionally, the building had asbestos and hazardous material abatement and the removal of an intrusive tree. The mezzanine level includes more dwelling units, a communal kitchen, and a common area.
